Watchtower — Privacy Policy

Watchtower is a free Chrome extension and Telegram bot (@watchtower_defi_bot) that lets you monitor your own Aave v3 (Polygon) lending position and wallet gas balance. This page explains what data it handles.

What we receive

The only input Watchtower's backend receives is the public wallet address you choose to provide, sent when you check a wallet's status. This address is used solely to query public Polygon blockchain data (via public/Alchemy RPC endpoints) and Aave's public smart contracts — the same data anyone could look up on a block explorer.

What we store

Chrome extension: the wallet address(es) you add and your display preferences (privacy mode, favorite wallet) are saved locally in your own browser's storage only. This never leaves your device except to query the API as described above.

API server: responses are cached in server memory for up to 20 seconds to reduce redundant blockchain queries, then discarded. Nothing is written to a persistent database or log tied to your address or identity.

Telegram bot: if you use /watch, the wallet address(es) and alert thresholds you set are stored in a database on our server, associated with your Telegram chat ID — this is the minimum needed for the bot to send you alerts. Use /unwatch to remove a wallet; removing all your wallets removes your data.

What we don't do

We never ask for or have access to private keys or seed phrases. We don't sell, rent, or share any data with third parties. We don't use any data for advertising, profiling, or determining creditworthiness. We don't track you across other websites.
